Please Help Penny!

Penny is a sweet little 11 month old girl who has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma. Read here to find out more about that and when they first found out.

Penny needs our help and yours too, if you can. Her health insurance is not very good and only covers 60% of her hospital bills. And just yesterday, her parents found out that she, on top of her cancer, has RSV too :(

So today, Friday, we are all trying to help get the word out. If you cannot donate, can you help spread the word for this sweet little baby girl? If you have a twitter account, facebook or blog, please please, help to get out the word. We need you to tweet(use #pennies4penny), blog, email your friends and update your facebook status all day today with messages about Penny. We need to get peoples attention!

Plan Wooden Toys Review

Who does not love "green" toys? I know I am looking more and more towards not only a greener way of living for me, but also a greener way of playing, for my children. PlanToys® are made from non-toxic, natural materials such as organic rubberwood. Their toys enable children to play, learn and become closer to nature. I love this and knowing that my children are not playing with a toy that could be harmful to them (think lead).

We received one of Plan Toys Wooden Toys. It was the Tower Tumbling. My kids really like this. They love stacking up things on top of eachother and watch it tumble to the floor, so this was super fun for them to play with. It is simple, developmental toys that are eco-friendly. It encourages your children to match the colors and stack the wooden toys on top of eachother and avoid them falling over (but that is the most fun!!). The wood is smooth and great for little grabbing hands to hold onto. I like the bold colors on these wooden pieces and I also like that it has numbers printed on the wooden discs to help teach your children counting and their numbers too! Very nice set. I just wish that it came with a little wooden container or something to put them in (or maybe an eco-friendly bag?). They would get lost easily, so I keep ours in an empty cardboard box in their playroom. Works just fine!

My little boy loves action figures, cars and all things rough and tough. So when I was able to review a WWE Action Figure "John Cena" I was excited!

Mattel and World Wrestling Entertainment joined forces in January 2010 to launch the most comprehensive and detailed portfolio of WWE action figures and accessories to date. The line includes the FlexForce action figures for young fans and the elite and enterance figures for the avid collectors.

Other products, designed specifically for kids, include: Superstar Rings, Championship belts, Ring action megaphone and motion activated tough talkers. Basic figure single packs will be released every month while two packs and elite figures, every two months.

So ya, my son loves this action figure! He carries it around with him in his backpack. He says "this is my tough guy, Mom!"

I had the opportunity to review a book called "Where the Jobs Are Now." This book is a great, informative resource! It lists hundreds of useful websites, industry news and career information. Also included, is a section for grants, scholarships, loans, freelance and consulting websites and all the latest information to help keep you informed and competitive.

The economy is short 22.4 million jobs. Makes you think, huh?!

Author Joe Watson is a leading national authority on strategic career planning. This book has so much great information in it. I have really enjoyed reading it. This book would be great for people looking to expand their career choices or those that have lost their jobs due to the economy. I am giving this book to my brother who will certainly benefit from the information in this book.

Neck Pain? Back Pain? OUCH!

I have had neck pain almost my whole life. I wake up every morning with some sort of pain and a lot of times I have a bad headache. Certainly not a way I like to start my days. I have tried everything from warm compresses to Tylenol and nothing takes it away or really even eases it. I think this pain is stemming from a car wreck I was in when I was 23 years old. Ugh. It also seems like whenever the weather changes (especially when it gets colder), my neck flares up big time.

I was thinking about getting an orthopedic pillow to help relieve some of my neck pain. I just don't know. There are so many to choose from but this one looks promising!

Neck pain can really wear someone down, big time. My shoulders are always stiff and hard feeling. Not very comfy, let me tell you. Maybe I need something more specific like a neck pain pillow. I have been looking at those too. There are a lot of options when it comes to pillows, you just have to research and pick what is right for you and your condition, if you have one.

There are a lot of ways to treat your back pain too. Just talk to your doctor first and foremost and decide where to go from there and what back pain treatment is best for you. I know next time I am in to see my doctor, we will be discussing this issue, again, sigh!

She fabricates all the glass components on her torch using the traditional Muranese lampworking technique and combines them with sparkling semi-precious gemstones. Whether in her lampwork jewelry or newly introduced custom photo transfer vases her final products are a whimsical, charming, truly one of a kind piece of art.

All pieces are created by hand in Jenny's studio in Los Angeles, California.

My kitchen is not much, in fact we don't even have a floor or kitchen sink (we are moving soon anyways), so cooking or baking is kind of hard for me. Baked Salmon, Sticky Rice, Cooked Asparagus and Chocolate Truffle Cheesecake!

Yep, that is what is for dinner over here tonight! YUM! It all turned out so delicious! I baked the salmon fillets in our oven at 375 degrees for 15 minutes, put a little johnnys seasoning on it and butter. Then I sauteed the asparagus in butter and garlic with a little bit of johnnys seasoning salt. The rice is just sticky rice you can buy at the store. Next was the Chocolate Truffle Cheesecake! I had enough to do two pies!

Chocolate Truffle Cheesecake:

2 pie pans of the oreo cookie already crunched in it

2 tbsp of butter

3 pkg of (8 oz each) Philadelphia cream cheese, softened

1 can of (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk

2 tsp. vanilla

1 pkg (12 ounces) semi sweet chocolate chips, melted and slightly cooled

4 eggs

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Beat cream cheese, sweetened condensed milk and vanilla in a large bowl. Add chocolate, mix well. Add eggs and mix well. Pour over pie crust. Bake for 1 hour 5 min. or until center is almost set. Refrigerate at least 4 hours. Garnish with raspberries or whatever you so desire and enjoy! We loved ours!!

Me and my kids enjoyed the CD. It was upbeat, fun and silly and they danced up a storm in the livingroom! I actually thought the songs were good and they did not annoy me like some children's songs. The DVD was a different story for me. While my kids enjoyed it some, I did not like it. I did not like the rainbow bright clothes that they wore, but the music was good. That is my only complaint about the DVD.

Home Improvements

Oh how our home needs many, many repairs. If only we had the money to do as many repairs that are needed! Ugh! Home remodeling has been on my list of things to do since we moved here!

For instance, or siding on our home is in desperate need of repair. We were thinking of going with Vinyl Siding.

We have a kitchen floor that needs to be redone and we were thinking of doing a laminate wood flooring there. I think it would look fabulous.

And the windows, yikes! We can't open them, because they all have no screens and we live in yellow jacket county! So during the summer, no cool breeze in this home! I would love to get replacement windows, that would be so nice!

Now, that just names only a few of what I would like done to our home. What changes would you like to make to your home?

Allie's Edibles Review & Giveaway! YUM!

Nothing in the world makes a bad day go away like indulging in some chocolate. What makes chocolate even better? When it is mixed with other yummy things, like peanut butter or marshmallows! YUM! When a box of Allie's Edibles showed up on my door step, I just knew that my day had started out right! Of course it was early, but I tore open that box and tried the Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars.. Oh. My. Gosh. Can I say absolutely delicious?! Seriously, this is a wonderful tasting treat and it is the absolute perfect size, prepackaged so you don't overdue your indulgence! I savored every last crumb. They are moist and soft and so so good! My mouth waters for more as I type this review! (too bad they are long gone!)

Everyone in my family (hubby and two kids) loved these bars. My favorite of course, was the Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars, my husbands were the Chocolate Covered Butter Nut Toffee Bars and my kids loved the Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Bars. We also received the Chocolate Covered Pretzel and Toffee Bark

and the Chocolate Covered Ganache which were also delish! Whoosh did we all feel spoiled!

I have to say that these arrived so quickly! And they were packaged up so well. When I opened the box and pulled out the absolutely adorable little box that they came in, I instantly fell in love! The box is way too cute and after we polished off the bars, I had to keep the little box.

I love how each bar is individually packaged for portion size control and of course for freshness! Everything about Allie's Edibles is delicious and adorable!

Shannon Perry: "The Real Thing" CD Review

I received a copy of Shannon Perry's new CD "The Real Thing". I am always open to new music so this was great! Got the kids together and popped in the CD. The first thing I noticed about her music is that she sings from the heart, her voice is not too shabby either!

The songs that are on "The Real Thing" Cd are:

* Words Have a Way

* Long Way Home

* Before the Cross

* Make Me Aware

* Take What's Yours

* Make Him Known

My favorite song on this CD is "Bad Hair Day" Love it! These are very inspirational songs and are from the heart.

A bit about Shannon Perry (most of it pulled from the Press Release):

Shannon kicked off her new women's conference this month entitled "If The Shoe Fits". Perry decided to use the events to support "Dress for Success" a worldwide charitable organization that promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing proffessional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. The Dress for Success boosts confidence to more than 3200 women annually!

The Real Thing features songs specifically written to fit in with the theme of the conferences. Shannon wrote most of her original pieces while waiting in the hospital rooms while her husband was undergoing cancer treatments. For four months following her husbands surgery, she brought her laptop computer to the hospital with her and while she waited for her husband she quietly cried out to God to help her with ways to help others and keep her focus off of herself and her circumstances at hand.

So, as you can see, her songs have such strong meaning and feeling behind them and that is what I like about her and her music.

Internet was down!

Ya, I know, call the authorities, my internet was down for a whole entire day! Ugh! I told my husband (or so I thought), to pay the phone bill, and he did not. So, it resulted in no internet or phones for one day. Yep, I was stranded. I don't have a cell phone, so that was unsettling, but other than that, I actually enjoyed myself! It was not so bad afterall :)

I took a nice long bath with the kids, then we colored and I got to read a nice book that I have been meaning to read. It is not that I don't spend tons of time with my kids, but it was just nice to not have an option to jump on the net and see what is going on, know what I mean?

Plus, my life is VERY hectic right now. We are in the middle of looking for another place to live (LONG story so I will spare you all that...). and it is REALLY stressing me out, big time. It is hard to think that if we don't find a place soon, like in 8 weeks, we might be living at my Mom's house and that is not something we want to do. Not that it is bad there, it is just not something that we would like. But, I am very thankful that the option is there, "just in case". So, that and having to pack this whole house up (well the inside part) by myself is really taking its toll on me all the while, I am a Mommy too! So ya, I am in a desperate need of some time to myself. But that won't happen anytime soon, unfortunately.

Goodness, I did not mean to ramble on, I guess I just needed someone to talk to! Anyways, thanks for reading and remember I always love comments!!! They make me smile and I could use those right now!
