CONGRATULATIONS TO TAMMY, COMMENT #91!!!

EarCheck

My little 3 year old always had ear infections as a little baby. My daughter has had a few too. I hate it when I never "know" if that is the problem. So it was nice when I was sent the Ear Check to review! With the touch of a button, EarCheck® Middle Ear Monitor can accurately and painlessly detect the presence of middle ear fluid, a key sign of an ear infection. It helps you determine when your child might have an ear infection, and it has been used by pediatrician for years. It is fast, accurate, easy to use and SAFE! How great is that? Something every Mama should have in her first aid cabinet. I used this on my daughter, when she would NOT stop crying. I was so very happy to have this device on hand. I simply put it into her little ear and within 5 seconds or less, it told me not likely. So then I could move onto other reasons why she was so fussy, like teething. I am very happy to have this around.

EarCheck

How Ear Check works (taken off their site):

The EarCheck® Middle Ear Monitor uses gentle sound waves to accurately and painlessly detect the presence of middle ear fluid, a key sign of an ear infection. This is the same patented and proven acoustic reflectometry technology used by thousands of physicians since 1997, and is a technique recommended by the American Academies of Pediatrics and Family Physicians.1

Simply place the tip of EarCheck® into the child's outer ear canal and press the SCAN button; the monitor works by sending a pleasant chirping sound into the ear canal. Some of this sound bounces off the eardrum and travels back to the instrument's built-in microphone. EarCheck® then analyzes the reflected sound to determine if the eardrum is working normally. If there is fluid in the ear, the eardrum's vibrations may be restricted. The greater the fluid level, the greater the reflected sound. Within only seconds, you will be able to determine if your child has fluid in the middle ear.

Times to use Ear Check:

*If your child shows signs of an ear infection (tugging on ears, excessive crying, etc..)
*Is being treated for an ear infection (to monitor it)
*Has a cold
*Suffers from frequent ear infections

About the company behind Ear Check (taken off of their site):

Innovia Medical LLC develops and markets medical products under the EarCheck® brand. The EarCheck® Middle Ear Monitor accurately detects middle ear fluid, a key sign of ear infection. Ear infections have become epidemic in scope and each year afflict millions of children worldwide, resulting in billions of dollars in annual health care expenses. We believe that our patented, proprietary product represents the only objective solution for parents to cost-effectively, painlessly, and immediately test for signs of ear infection in children.

"The EarCheck® Middle Ear Monitor is a fast and easy way for parents to detect middle ear fluid, often associated with acute ear infection. Parents can also monitor progress as the presence of fluid is decreasing and the infection is clearing up."

I love that it takes only seconds. No child wants to sit still for long. And to know that in just seconds you can have the answer to a question that has always been hard to answer as a parent... Does my child have an ear infection? So many kids get lasting ear damage because an ear infection can be so difficult to recognize in a baby! Great product!

I just learned how it works- I was wondering....EarCheck® quickly determines the probability of middle ear fluid, a key sign of an ear infection, and interprets the results on the easy-to-read display panel.

I love that it can check for fluids so I can determine whether I need to bring my son to the doctor, or whether he is just teething (since he also pulls on his ear when that's going on).

This is one of the best things I have heard about. My little guy is at the doctors once a month for ear infections and that is the truth! I found out that this uses soundwaves to detect problems. Using this I can find out if he really has fluids in his ears or if it is something else that is causing the tugging on the ears!

I love that it's painless! That's so important for the little ones.

I have wamn hands so I always thing my kids have a fever.... seriously I go to the doctor weekly ( they also have really bad breathing problems, so when I think they have a fever I freak). I love that this is so accurate and that it only takes a few seconds and is painless. We have one of the old timey ones that we just stick in the mouth but I never can read it right. This would be a lifesaver ( or a jaw saver and my kids would see it) and less trips to the doctor.

Thanks for the wonderful giveaway!

My son has had ear infections that we didn't even know about. One time he popped an ear drum and we only found out when we brought him in to the doctor for pinkeye. So I would love to have this monitor. My favorite feature is that it is easy to use and only takes a few seconds.

My daughter had re-occuring ear infections and as a result is afraid of anything going anywhere near her ear...this would be perfect, since it only takes seconds, and is painless! Being able to detect ear fluid is a bonus for any parent who knows the woes of ear infections...
