CONTEST OVER! CONGRATS TO SHARI D, COMMENT #15!!!

MedSafe

Keep your family safe, lock up your medications! I never really thought about this, until I had little ones of my own. Now I am making sure that every kind of medication we have, is not only up high but now, thanks to MedSafe, locked up too. What is MedSafe? It is an electronic Lock Box To Secure Your Medications. I think every parent should have one of these, because you just NEVER know.

MedSafe

I received a MedSafe to review. I opened the box and read the instructions on how to put in your own code, it has 5 buttons on it to make up your own code. At first, lol, I had a hard time, even after reading the instructions, on how the heck to get it to take my code! But, after a few tries, I did it. Now, you can either just set this in your cabinet or you can attach it to the wall up high, in your bathroom or wherever you want it. We attached ours to the wall in our upstairs bathroom, high up. I put all of our medications, baby meds and everything in it, just in case. I love it and am so glad that I have this in our home.

A bit about the MedSafe (taken off their site):

Quick facts: 92% of unintentional overdoses happen at home

71,000 kids each year end up in the ER from overdoses

Many people lock up their guns, using gun safes, and forget that the meds are available to their children, why not lock them up too?! Common sense!

We believe talking to kids about drugs is great,
but relieving them of the temptation in the medicine cabinet is better.

We believe that if more kids end up at parties with empty pockets saying sorry guys, my parents have a MedSafe. I’ve got nothing, we could beat this problem.

We believe the Teen Prescription Drug Abuse Problem needs more attention. That is why we offer MedSafe exclusively through organizations, groups, and charities. We would rather “push back” profits to the groups that will do some good with them.

We believe kids need more education on the consequences of prescription drug abuse. The secret killer is that kids think they’re safe because they’re legal! ”But I saw all the good things it can do on television. If it were bad they wouldn't let it be advertised.”

We believe no parent should ever have to hear words like “I know she only took one. I’m sorry for your loss.” We believe that one day we will look back at a time when prescription drugs were not locked up, as we now look back at the times when seats belts were not required – “what were we thinking?!”

We hope you join us in our mission to Help Save Our Kids!

Just recently I read a book about children having script parties. It scared the bejeepers out of me. Hubby and I have both had surgeries and have pain meds in our cabinet. Anybody would have easy access to them. We need this to keep our daughters safe.

I like that it has a digital lock and holds up to 15 prescription bottles.

10. Marci   |   Thu Nov 05, 2009 @ 08:42PM

I would put it in my medicine cabinet.

11. David   |   Sat Nov 07, 2009 @ 03:22AM

21. artsweet  |  my website   |   Mon Nov 09, 2009 @ 09:00AM

My 3 yr old has already defeated the child locks in the bathroom - this would be great. I like that it can hold up to 15 bottles.

22. artsweet  |  my website   |   Mon Nov 09, 2009 @ 09:01AM

I would keep this in the bathroom so that our medicines would be accessible but safe!

23. Leslie   |   Mon Nov 09, 2009 @ 09:02AM

I would put it on the wall in the bathroom. We don't have any children yet but I do take care of friend's kids often. It would be another great safety precaution for when they are around and also the future. I also like that it gives us more privacy.

24. Carol G   |   Mon Nov 09, 2009 @ 10:06AM

I learned that it will hold 15 prescription bottles. Unfortunately not all meds that can be dangerous come in those smaller sizes--for example I usually buy the large economy size of Tylenol (it lasts a long time and every adult in the family knows where it is). Many people still do not realize that overdoses of OTC drugs can also kill.

25. Carol G   |   Mon Nov 09, 2009 @ 10:07AM

I would put it in my kitchen medicine area. My bathroom does not have a medicine cabinet, and I keep my meds in the kitchen for easy remembering to take them at mealtime.

26. Jessca   |   Mon Nov 09, 2009 @ 11:35AM

I learned
Gun Deaths- 30,000+ per year
Rx Drug deaths- 100,000+ per year (1 every 5 minutes!)
Yet most parents lock up their firearms but not their Rx drugs!
wow

27. Jessca   |   Mon Nov 09, 2009 @ 11:36AM

I would put this in the bathroom on the towel shelf

28. Heather   |   Mon Nov 09, 2009 @ 05:37PM

It holds up to 15 bottels of pills :-)

29. Dani'  |  my website   |   Mon Nov 09, 2009 @ 10:51PM

I learned that 92% of unintentional overdoses happen at home.

30. Dani'  |  my website   |   Mon Nov 09, 2009 @ 10:54PM

Our meds are in the kitchen so I would probably put this in the kitchen. Easier access to cups!

The vast majority of teens abusing prescription drugs are getting them from the medicine cabinets of friends, family, and acquaintances.

34. Priscilla   |   Tue Nov 10, 2009 @ 12:00AM

I would put this in my bedroom closet.

35. Molly K   |   Tue Nov 10, 2009 @ 04:13PM

I learned that it Holds up to 15 bottles of prescription meds.

36. Molly K   |   Tue Nov 10, 2009 @ 04:13PM

Right now we keep our medication in a kitchen cabinet so I would probably put this there.

37. monica baker   |   Wed Nov 11, 2009 @ 08:14AM

I learned that Medsafe has teamed up with DARE.

40. Kristyn Fleige  |  my website   |   Wed Nov 11, 2009 @ 02:58PM

I would gift this to my mother-in-law who takes numerous meds. I am always afraid my daughter will get into something at her house!

41. lace  |  my website   |   Wed Nov 11, 2009 @ 08:43PM

This is something that every house should have. I found out that it holds 15 bottles in it.

42. jengd   |   Thu Nov 12, 2009 @ 09:59PM

I find it interesting that gun control which is a hot topic, kills fewer that prescription deaths.
Gun Deaths- 30,000+ per yr. Rx Drug deaths- 100,000+ per year (1 every 5 minutes!)

43. jengd   |   Thu Nov 12, 2009 @ 10:00PM

If I won, we'd start by TRYING to fit it into the med. cabinet in our bathroom. If it didn't, probably under a bathroom sink which has a child lock on it already.

44. Patricia   |   Fri Nov 13, 2009 @ 11:34AM

I learned this: State of the art digital lock: no keys for kids to find. This is a great feature to keep out teens looking for narcotics.

45. Patricia   |   Fri Nov 13, 2009 @ 11:35AM

I would put this in my bedroom closet. Hopefully out of sight, out of mind.

46. Dan D   |   Fri Nov 13, 2009 @ 02:05PM

I learned that there are gun deaths- 30,000+ per year in America.

“Too many parents who believe “it’s not happening in my house” have kids who end up in my E.R., or worse, the morgue! Medications simply must be locked up.”
- Dr. Mark Melrose, ER Director/Physician
